There's an obvious (to me) title, but I'll refrain

Woohoo! I'm bussing to D.C. early Saturday morning to meet up w/ Pea, who's there on business. (Oh how I'd love to be able to say that about myself--just once, re: anyplace. Kansas, say, would be fine.) Over the last several months, Pea's work at PDF has revolved around coordinating the creativity exhibit portion of this weekend's World Parkinson Congress 2006. Back in 2005, PDF put out a submissions call for art (any/all media) done at the hand of people w/ Parkinson's. They were flooded w/ entries ranging from simple watercolors to intricate jewelry and interpretive dance. A lot of it--amazing. Eventually images of everything will be scanned and put online; I'll share when this happens.

So, Pea's able to get me into the exhibit, which I can't wait to see, but beyond this I have few set plans. I'll make a handful of the obvious stops and probably fit in a whirl through The Smithsonian, run twice... but what else? Anyone have any insider tips, anything less, I don't know, publicized?

Let's see...where do I begin!?!? You know I lived in D.C. (Derailment Central) for 2+ years, so I'm quite familiar with some of the haunts:

The Fox and Hounds is a fine bar in Dupont Circle (1537 17th St. NW ). Lauriol Plaza is an awesome Tex-Mex restaurant (1835 18th St. NW )

Anything in Adams Morgan (above Dupont Circle) is sure to be a hit for eating and drinking. I love Heaven and Hell for drinking/dancing. There are some good Ethiopian Restaurants up there as well.

The Holocaust Museum is pretty amazing (very heavy).

The iota Cafe and Bar is great if you're in Arlington (2832 Wilson Blvd)

Carpool is kind of a fun place to go and hang, too, if you're in Arlington (4000 Fairfax Dr)

Anyway, I could go on and on, but you only have a weekend! You'll want to go back, I'm sure!! And when you do, I can give you a complete guide!!

Thanks, M. Too bad we weren't in town on Thursday--'80s night at that Heaven & Hell place! We did hit up The Fox & Hound, which was just the ticket. I also ran alongside the Potomac Sunday morning--magical.
